WebThe use of interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), which has greater sensitivity than conventional cytogenetics to detect aberrations given the low proliferative rate of plasma cells, has revealed abnormalities in the majority of patients 2, 3. WebThe etiology of multiple myeloma (MM) remains obscure, although reports of familial clustering have implicated both a host susceptibility factor and environmental effects. Here we describe the medical histories of members of a family prone to MM. We developed a pedigree for an MM-prone family by using information obtained from a questionnaire ...
Multiple myeloma with high-risk cytogenetics and its treatment …
WebCytogenetic aberrations (CAs) are vital markers for risk stratification of multiple myeloma (MM). The prognostic significance of the aberration, t(11;14)(q13;q32), in MM has remained controversial over recent years. In addition, studies on the heterogeneity of t(11;14) MM and the impact of additional CAs are rare. WebThus, as a minimum, we recommend routine testing for t(4;14) and 17p13 deletion by FISH and conventional cytogenetics. This classification will identify multiple myeloma patients at high genetic risk for early progression after conventional therapies. Publication types Review MeSH terms imdb grave of the fireflies
Multiple myeloma with high-risk cytogenetics and its treatment …
WebIn this study, the prognostic significance of cytogenetic abnormalities detected by interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (iFISH) in 229 newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients was retrospectively analyzed. Results showed that del (17p), t(4;14), and 1q21 gain were adverse predictors of progression-free survival (PFS). WebTesting Recommendations At a minimum, baseline genetic information should be obtained in all MM cases Testing must be done with either cytoplasmic immunoglobulin-enhanced FISH or FISH carried out on the nuclei from purified plasma cells Minimum FISH panel should include t (4;14) (p16;q32), t (14;16) (q32;q23), and 17p13 deletions WebSep 1, 2024 · Bone marrow is often sent for cytogenetics and fluorescence in situ hybridization testing for genetic markers of high-risk disease. ...
